hey guys me again all the way from india, new delhi!
today was the second biggest day for my cousin cause it was the engagement! it was damn FUN! i have to hand it to Nidhi didi's [tts my cousin;the bride's name]FRIENDS~ they are like SO FUN! i mean i cant believe my cousin has such true,nice,caring and FUN!! friends. i mean what else can i say cept for that they were FUN FUN FUN! haha.
The whole thing was in KLOVES banquet hall [from 12-5pm]and it started off with the groom's family going in and the bride's family performing prayers and giving the groom's side families with loads and i mean LOADS of gifts! it was like gift-a-palooza! [more gifts coming later in the story...KEEP READING]
so once the bride's parents have welcomed the groom into the family and the bride's parents has given gifts to the groom's families, then comes the grand entrance of the bride herself! [and yes she sits in the background until this time. she is ritually not allowed to come out untill called by the groom's family. this is usually after the groom has been welcomed into the family]
and so SHE MAKES A GRAND and seriously GRAND entrance, with all friends and sisters. (INCLUDING ME!) haha. AND SHE LOOKED DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!we had to walk in front of her and hide her from the groom until the groom's mother comes to greet her.so we did and so the groom's mother came and finally the groom's family welcomed the bride into THIER family. this was SUPER KOOL! i mean all the bride had to do was sit their with her beutiful clothing and jewellery like a barbie doll! like my cousin REALLY looked like a pakaged barbie doll! so then the groom's parents and relatives all showered her with firstly the ritually given "chunni" or scarf and then a "sari". after that comes MONEY,dry fruits, LOADS AND LOADS of sweets, NAILPOLISH,PERFUME,LIPSTICK,and other makeup products, etc.and they also have to feed her sweets in her mouth as they give her the presents and i saw my SUPER HEALTH CONCIOUS COUSIN GOBBLE DOWN LIKE SWEETS!!! haha. was super surprising for me.
this whole time i was photographer! actually i chose to be even though there was a pro photographer with a D70 NIKON AND EXTERNAL FLASH. HUMPH SHOW-OFF!. so like anyways took loads of great shots. and i mean like 100 OVER! haha i like totally went crazy with the camera and now i have to go and upload all of them before 2morrow! AHHH
so anyways then came the appitizers, then lunch and then dessert!
and WHILE everyone ate, the bride and groom had to sit at their seats and behave like total figurines even thought they were looking like barbie and ken together!
AFTER EVERYONE ATE, there was a formal dinner with the closest relatives had to sit on this LONG table in between the banquet hall and eat togethe rwith the bride and groom.
oh and how can i forget, i MET MILLIONS OF PEOPLE! ok im exaggerating. it was like LOADS of new people, including those from Amit's "Jiju's"[tts the groom's name] side! i call him "Jiju" cause tts what u call your sister's husband in hindi! haha. so like i have loads more people to meet 2morrow and day after. 2morrow is the "Mehendi Rasm" AKA ladies night. its when all the ladies of the bride's family and friends gather and sing and dance and get henna applied by professionals called to the bride's home. and tt reminds me that i havent arranged the music. they asked me to pick the bride's henna together with the bride and so i did like a week back! also they asked me to be in charge of western music cause the classical instruments usually played, i cant play! so like i have to get the tracks of fast beats and grooving music tracks on cd! and i havent gotten and will get them 2morrow morning! AHHH! i am like going crazy cause being like the few of the closer relatives of the bride, we have to represent her on the floor while she sits with the groom like figurines! so we gotto look prim and proper!
ANYWAYS, i think i have typed quite a lot! will upload LOADS AND LOADS of pics soon. i found a card reader and will upload them most likely either 2morrow or the 16! KEPP LOOKING OUT FOR THEM!
PS I LOOK HORRIBLE IN THE AFTERMATH PICS CAUSE I WAS SUPER TIRED!
